A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF NORTONVILLE, KANSAS FROM K.S.A. 12-1220 PROVISIONS FOR ANNUAL MILL LEVY RATE AND ESTABLISHING THE MAXIMUM MILL LEVY FOR LIBRARY FUND FOR THE CITY OF NORTONVILLE, KANSAS.

WHEREAS, the City Council desires to be able to establish the maximum mill levy rate of the Library Fund as provided under K.S.A. 12-1220 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated by limiting the mill levy for the maintenance of such library pursuant to this charter ordinance.

SECTION 1. Authority. In accordance with the authority granted to municipalities by Article 12, Section 5(4) of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, the City of Nortonville, Kansas hereby elects to set, by. Charter Ordinance, the maximum mill levy rate for library purposes under K.S.A. 12-1220.

SECTION 2. Maximum Mill Levy. The City Council of the City of Nortonville, Kansas hereby sets the maximum mill levy rate for Library Fund, as provided in K.S.A. 12-1220, wherein the Library Board shall be authorized to and shall annually levy a tax for the maintenance for such library by a mill levy of not to exceed 10.42 mills per year, and further, that the City Council may increase or decrease said maximum mill levy rate by passing a regular ordinance by the City Council of the City of Nortonville, Kansas wherever said City Council elect to increase or decrease the maximum mill levy rate for library maintenance pursuant to K.S.A. 12-1220 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated.
