A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTION THE CITY OF NORTONVILLE, KANSAS FROM THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 25-2108a, RELATING TO PRIMARY ELECTIONS; BEGINNING TERM OF ELECTED OFFICIALS AND REDEFINING A QUORUM FOR CITY COMMISSION MEETINGS AND REPEALING CHARTER ORDINANCE 2021-001.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF NORTONVILLE, KANSAS;

SECTION ONE:  The City of Nortonville, Kansas, by the power vested in it pursuant to Article 12, Section 5 of the Kansas Constitution hereby elects and does exempt itself and make inapplicable the provisions of K.S.A. 25-2108a and amendments thereto, which apply to this City, but are parts of enactments which do not apply uniformly to all cities.

SECTION TWO: Charter Ordinance 2021-001 is hereby repealed.

SECTION TWO: The term of officers elected shall commence by the second Monday of January following certification of the election and the elected officials shall qualify by taking the oath of office to be filed with the city clerk.

SECTION THREE: Four (4) elected officials shall constitute a quorum for conducting city business and meetings.
